Next Protest - Week of January 12, 2009

Our second peaceful protest will occur at the next SAG meeting currently scheduled for the week of January 12th in Hollywood. We hope you can join us in our fight to have our voices heard!

Check back soon for more specific details.

Our First Protest - A Success!

Despite only 24 hours notice and pouring rain, our peaceful protest at the SAG town hall meeting on December 17, 2008 was a success as over a dozen crew workers showed up to picket outside of the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, garnering media coverage by The Associated Press, Variety, The Los Angeles Times, and countless other news agencies around the world.

We are currently planning new protests, so stay tuned!

Welcome to the Operation

This blog is designed to help crew workers, SAG members, and various other industry professionals organize efforts to block a strike attempt by the Screen Actors Guild in 2009. While generally supportive of the actors, we feel now is not the time to put thousands of people out of work nor place one union's importance ahead of others'. Countless have already been put out of work, or at least seen reduced working opportunities, since SAG's contract expired in June 2008. Upon contract expiration, productions slowed significantly over strike fears and with each passing day, it only gets worse. Now we are moving into the 7th month of non-movement, failed negotiations between SAG and AMPTP, and most recently a controversial campaign to authorize a strike.

We say: "Enough is enough. Let us get back to work."

The Mission

1. Stop the strike authorization process altogether.

or

2. Influence SAG members to vote NO on a strike.

Stay tuned for updates on the campaign!
